Accessibility statement

Prerenew is designed first for people whose attention, memory, and energy vary from day to day. This page says what that means in practice and what we have not finished.
The standard we aim for
We aim to meet WCAG 2.2 at level AA, and we borrow from the W3C’s cognitive accessibility guidance (COGA) for anything WCAG does not cover. We have not yet had an independent audit. This is a self-assessment.
What is built in
- One decision at a time. The home screen shows the single most urgent renewal first and hides the rest behind a button.
- Three fixed answers everywhere: yes, no, not sure; keep, pause, cancel. No free-text is required to make progress.
- Reminders are capped at two a day by default, deferred during quiet hours instead of dropped, and Overwhelm mode collapses everything into one Sunday digest.
- Amber for “waiting on you”, never red. Copy avoids blame. All three answers are described as fine answers.
- A dyslexia-friendly font option (Atkinson Hyperlegible) with wider spacing, a high-contrast theme, and a reduced-motion switch. The reduced-motion system preference is also honoured automatically.
- Keyboard operable dialogs, menus, and tabs with visible focus, built on Radix UI primitives. Icon-only buttons carry text labels for screen readers.
- Passkey sign-in. No passwords to remember, no CAPTCHAs.
- Text scales with browser zoom up to 500% and the layout reflows on narrow screens.
Known gaps
- Colour-coded provider tiles rely on the first letter plus colour. We plan to add provider names to every tile for screen readers.
- Statement import accepts paste and a .csv / .txt file. There is still no OCR of screenshots.
- Time inputs use the browser’s native picker, whose accessibility varies by platform.
- Some toast messages disappear on a timer. Important outcomes are also written to the ledger and timeline so nothing is lost if you miss a toast.
- Push notifications on iPhone and iPad require adding the app to the Home Screen first (an Apple restriction).
